BetwitchedBeholder: Hey did you guys see the latest statement from Sailors of the Coast? Pretty crazy stuff.
MadMage: Yeah! I can’t believe they had the nerve to call the OBL they sent out a draft! You don’t send out a draft with contracts attached and pressure to sign within 7 days!
BewitchedBeholder: I know right? The whole statement is filled with lies and gaslighting. I don’t know if I can ever trust Sailors of the Coast again.
SkeletonSandwich: I think you guys are overreacting to this whole thing a bit. It’s just semantics, really. Who cares whether they call it a draft or a document or whatever? Besides, they have the right to get royalties on boat latch installations if they use the method described in Buoys and Boats.
MadMage: No way! You can’t seriously be falling for this chicanery, right SS? The boating community has been expanding on the guidelines in B&B for over twenty years. Sailors of the Coast wouldn’t be the business they are today without us – they can’t just stab us in the back now!
BewitchedBeholder: MM is right, SS. Besides, even if they were to charge royalties for any stainless steel marine fabrication in the Melbourne area, 25% of gross revenue is way too much, especially when you consider taxes.
SkeletonSandwich: I’m just saying, it’s their IP. They can do whatever they want with it. I’m happy to switch to a new manual for our future boating upgrades, but I think it’s a little dramatic.
BewitchedBeholder: What do you think about all this, RR?
RagingRaven: What’s going on? I really haven’t been keeping up to date with all this stuff. Too busy.
BewitchedBeholder: Oh, never mind. Are we still down to play Goblins and Grottos tonight? Thank goodness we don’t have any drama there. I don’t think I could handle it if my favourite table top roleplaying game went through a similar scandal.
Skeleton Sandwich: Yep, 7.00 pm start, right?
RagingRaven: Works for me!
MadMage: Yep, see you guys then!
