Aunt’s Bathroom Modifications

My brother and I met up for coffee the other day to discuss the condition of our aunty. Our aunt lives alone and has no one to care for her, so we’ve decided to take that duty upon ourselves. She was very helpful and supportive throughout our young years. Sadly, my brother and I weren’t fortunate enough to grow up in a home with our parents. Luckily, we had our aunty who took us in like her own. We’re older now and are living independently as we thrive in our careers and are settled with our families. Despite us now living our own lives, we are still very much a part of our aunty’s life.

Recently we went to visit our aunty and she told us that she’s been struggling to get in and out of the bathtub. I told her I would find a bathtub modifications specialist near me who could evaluate her current tub and suggest some changes to make the tub more friendly to her physical condition. She suffers from crippling osteoporosis that makes it difficult for her to lift her leg over the bathtub wall to get in and out of the tub. There have also been a few instances where one of us has come to the house and found her on the bathroom floor because she’s taken a fall. We are super thankful that none of the falls has been serious, but we are taking this as a serious sign to improve her bathroom before something more dangerous happens.

We’re considering getting an easy step bathtub conversion. Sydney has a really great bath modifications specialist that I am planning to use. This same specialist helped out my friend’s mum and apparently the bathroom modifications they made have absolutely changed her life.

It truly is sad seeing people deteriorate as they get older. Our aunty used to be a very fit and athletic tennis player back in her heyday. Not only did she compete nationally, her talents also gave her the privilege of competing at an international level. Now, she’s just this cute little old lady.
