Some of our high up board people want a big overhaul of the cooling system in the building. It’s funny because I actually mentioned going to a place that does air conditioner installation in Beaumaris, and now I am here. It’s not gonna end well. I have a bad feeling that the higher ups don’t quite understand what they’re getting themselves in to.
For the record, the cooling works much better than it did in the old place, but given how warm things have been recently…yeah, I see the point. We were at band practice last night in the old town hall. My fingers were, like, sweating off. Sammo, who’s like a jumper and pants kind of guy, was in a singlet and thongs! I didn’t recognize him at first. Freaky stuff. And they say global warming is going to end us all, maybe so!
Obviously I’m going to be involved in this, because I do general maintenance. Switching on the cooling is my job, I know the system pretty well. I really hope they don’t end up getting something totally new, because that’d be such a drag. Took me long enough to learn just one system, y’know? Add in another and it’d be like starting my job all over. And that’s not something I want to do at all.
Maybe I can convince them to just get a few radiators installed, or something. They’re efficient, cool enough and really easy to take care of. Brian, that guy from England, was talking about them. Why don’t we have them here? Oh, right…because we’re from Australia. It’s hot here all the time! Ugh, it’s dumb. That said, if we get the greatest air con service Hampton has ever seen! The new unit was installed, complete with smart controls that practically run the place and keep it cool all the time…well, no objections from me. If it saves me time then I’m all for it to be honest. At the end of the day, all I want is to be cool and comfortable at work. Is that truly so much to ask these days?
