This is a word of warning to anyone out there who has a daughter. Particularly if their daughter is an only child. Do not spoil her! We made that mistake. We wanted to give our daughter anything and everything, as most parents do. The only issue with that is, we did give her everything. Our daughter ruled the roost in the house. She knew she could get anything she wanted. I blame my husband for that. While I did have a tendency of granting her most things she wanted, my husband would give her everything and more.
My daughter was very fortunate to grow up in a family where her parents could give her everything. I think the fact that we only had one child definitely made it easier to provide. We didn’t have to worry about splitting things equally among multiple children.
The big topic in our house for the last six months has been our daughter’s first home. After years of bouncing between living with us and being out on her own and renting, she’s decided it’s time that she buys a place. The thing is, she doesn’t only want to buy a place. She wants to build a place! A luxury place. That’s right, she’s refusing to live in a standard house like everyone else. Instead, she’s been meeting with top-rated luxury home designers. I wonder if she’s expecting her dad and me to chip in. Of course, we’d more than happily chip in for her first home. It’s just that we weren’t expecting to chip in for a luxury property.
I saw the designs for the luxury house, and they’re looking great! My daughter is over the moon with how the designs turned out and I can definitely see why. I guess that’s what happens when you have the best new home builders Mornington Peninsula has ever seen on the case. They’ve really helped her vision come alive. Now I’m just looking forward to the end result. She better be prepared to have us over as regular house guests!
